This FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) will help you to understand more about the Badlion Anticheat Bans and how they work.
What is a Hardware Ban?
An account ban is when an account has been blacklisted from joining or playing on a server. An IP ban is when your IP address has been blacklisted from joining or playing on a server. Similarly, a hardware ban is when certain pieces of information about your computer are blacklisted from joining or playing on a server. Hardware bans are more effective than your typical account or IP ban, which are more easily evadable. We have spent a lot of time and effort crafting our hardware ban solution to make it as effective as possible, and very difficult to evade.
I am BAC banned, how can I get unbanned?
When we issue a BAC ban in our systems, we make sure that the player being banned has been detected by our anti-cheat systems using a known cheat that we have blacklisted. We do everything in our power to ensure that the bans being issued are accurate. We check every day for any potential false positives and remove them as we notice them (e.g. when a user's ban gets mixed up with another user).
If your ban is still in place after a week of time, then it is fair to assume that you have been BAC banned and your ban will remain in effect until the unban time specified when joining a BAC server.
There is no unban or appeal process for BAC bans, and you must wait the punishment time out in order to be unbanned. The first ban is 6 months and doubles each time after that (e.g. 6 months -> 1 year -> 2 years, etc).
I was banned by BAC, but I didn't cheat on a BAC server.
If you have been using any cheats at all, first and foremost shame on you. You should not be cheating on any Minecraft server. If you were running some cheat on your computer, then you probably made a mistake and left your cheat running or injected into your Minecraft game and then joined a BAC server afterward. There are no mistakes with our systems, and we do not punish players for using cheats on non-BAC servers, as we cannot verify the identity of these cheats without the server plugins being installed. This means that you, the user, made a mistake and got yourself BAC banned.
The easy solution here is to not cheat in the first place on any server, then you don't need to worry about BAC bans.
I was falsely banned, what do I do?
We have systems in place to do everything possible to prevent false bans. We are constantly evolving our systems to ensure that false bans do not happen, and if they do they are kept to a minimum. This includes checking every day for potential false bans and removing them. If you are falsely banned, most times you will see that you have been unbanned within a day or two as our system or administrators check the potential false bans.
How often do you ban cheaters?
We ban cheaters in a mixture of random ban waves and automatic detection methods depending on the cheats that are being used. The frequency of the ban waves is random, as we don't want to get into the habit of doing regular ban waves and making people think they are safe or "undetected." We also will ban different cheats in each ban wave, to keep hack developers more confused about whether their cheats are being detected or not.
